Zinefest Preparation *plus* Peehole #8!
So! I am busily preparing for Zinefest coming up this weekend, printing and stapling comics at lightning pace*, as well as getting the layout set for Peehole #8, which I will be debuting at Saturday's festivities. I have a few sneak previews of the issue already up on the blog here. Seating assignments for the fest have been set up, and I am going to be up on the 8th floor, at Table 57. Here is floor map! Come by and say hi!
*I did state earlier that I was making my cats do the stapling and folding at sweatshop wages so that they would be pulling their weight around the house more, but that didn't work too well because their little paws can't operate a stapler, and the couldn't earn sweatshop wages because cats don't sweat. So I took over the stapling, and I put them to work giving me back rubs instead.

Chicago Zine Fest!
So, I am going to have a table at the Chicago Zine Fest this year. Actually, half a table, because that is how they do it. I'll have all seven issues of Peehole available, and I am hoping to have an eighth issue finished by then. (fingers crossed!)
It's 11 am to 6 pm, Saturday, March 10, at the Conaway Center, Columbia College, 1104 South Wabash, Chicago, Illinois, USA, Earth. Plus some activities at Quimby's the night before.
Poster by Lilli Carré.
Should be fun! Come see me and say hi! And buy my comics! Help feed my cats! They haven't been pulling their weight around the house, so I've been putting them to work stapling my comics together at sweatshop wages.
Also, make sure to pronounce "zine" the way you would pronounce "dine" or "mine", because it's funnier that way.

Peehole #7 - Danziggy II: Lucifudge!
Ok! Peehole #7 is out! The second installment in the series, Danziggy II: Lucifudge, is ready to go! I'm working my printer and special stapler overtime as I type and will have this up on Etsy and at Quimby's Bookstore within the week. You buy! You buy now! Ok!
(UPDATE: At Quimby's now. Buy it from them and help feed their cats as well. Quimby's is awesome.)
Yes, I did reuse an earlier comic for the cover instead of creating a new one, but what's it to you, eh? I was not willing to draw a picture of Danziggy's hairy chest with his hands clutching a crucifix necklace to make this more authentic or anything. One can take a joke too far.
Buy it! Help me feed my cats!
Look at these guys; do you want them to go hungry?
Dig.

Macedonian War Pie!
I'm gearing up for another round of weird dream comics, because I keep having weird dreams. I drew this one a few days back, about a dream I had a few years back about a Red Swan show.
It should be noted that this could just as easily have happened in real life, as Ian has a masters in medieval history.

Peehole #6 - Danziggy!
It is done! Time for a new issue of Peehole, featuring Danziggy:
Twenty pages of horror punk and metal silliness, in perfect bathroom reading size, just in time for the holidays! It will be up on my Etsy site in the near future, and I will be dropping some copies off at Quimbys shortly. And of course you can get them from me personally.
OK!
UPDATE: OK! I dropped off a stack of these at Quimby's, and it is listed on my Etsy site. Dig!

Garfield + Metallica = A Sure Formula for Lawsuits
I was inspired to do another silly idea based on some discussions on the Electrical Audio forum, taking down another loved/hated cartoon character and metal celebrity, as well as a large cat.
My quick photoshop job.

30 Day Song Challenge - Day 30
30 Day Song Challenge: day 30 - your favorite song at this time last year
Joanna Newsome - Monkey and Bear
I guess this was one of my favorites a year ago. I got this album around the time it came out and it didn't really click until last year. The music is so dense and the lyrics are so involved, but it's pure poetry.

30 Day Song Challenge - Day 29
Day 29 - a song from your childhood
Peter Schilling - Major Tom (Coming Home)
This was probably the first song I liked that wasn't part of my dad's record collection. I didn't find out the name of it until maybe 15 years later. I just found out it was supposed to be a retelling of David Bowie's "Space Oddity". Also I just realized that the theme song from Heathcliff and Friends ripped off the vocal part from the end of the song.

Day 28 - a song that makes you feel guilty
Minor Threat - In My Eyes
I'm sorry, Ian, ok? I'm sorry! Is that what you want to hear Ian? I'm sorry!

30 Day Song Challenge - Day 27
30 Day Song Challenge: day 27 - a song that you wish you could play
I can't play jazz guitar at all, even with four fingers.
Django Reinhardt - J'attendrai Swing
Somehow Django Rinehardt was able to be the best jazz guitarists using only two.

30 Day Song Challenge - Day 26
Day 26 - a song that you can play on an instrument
The Chantays - Pipeline
This was the first song I learned to play on guitar, maybe 1991 or so. I hadn't figured out any non-power chords yet, so "Jane Says" wasn't an option, and the easiest non-chord based songs - "Hunger Strike" and "Nothing Else Matters" - hadn't been released yet. Maybe they were, but I hadn't heard them.

My etsy site
I made an etsy site for my comics, for people who don't have ready access to me or to Quimbys.
The site is located here. You can buy issues 1 through 5 separately, or as a group for a discount.
